Holiday tips



BANANAS are high in potassium; low levels can cause jet lag.
BLONDE HAIR- wet hair with normal water before swimming in chlorinated water; this reduces the amount of chemicals your hair will absorb.
BUGS- hate Vitamin B drink Guinness eat Marmite or take vitamin B to keep them away.
CHILDREN'S SKIN is thinner than adults; burnt skin on children increases the risk of skin cancer.
DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS (DVT) to reduce the risk of Deep vein Thrombosis (deadly blood clots in the veins) wear compression socks walk about and do ankle exercises. Do this at least once an hour and keep hydrated with drinks not containing alcohol tea or coffee that contain caffeine. Experts believe that you should move about every thirty minutes and not sit still especially with legs crossed for long periods of time on long car and plane journeys.
DOG BITES- wash the area for at least five minutes using clean running water with antiseptic wash or soap.
ENERGY DRINK- if you need to make a homemade energy replacement drink- boiled water a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of sugar.
FOOD - Trying different foods at not normal times on holiday can play havoc with your normal routines and your digestive system. To reduce nutritional stress at least eats at your normal times. If competing and if possible adjust your eating to the countries time adjusted. If you have breakfast at 7am every morning aim to continue this routine when away.
JELLY FISH STING- rinse with seawater remove any venomous cells stick to the area. Use vinegar or urine are both acidic & will neutralize the area.
SUNGLASSES-Sunglasses that do not have the CE mark probably do not have the protection from UV rays.
TUMMY UPSET-Avoid tummy upsets by not eating fish, shellfish, food that should be stored & served chilled and is not. Do not have ice in your drinks.
SUN PROTECTION -When considering using a sun protector look for the following. Water resistant otherwise you could soon burn after entering the water if it washes off. UVA & UVB protection. Perfume free will tends to be natural and will not attract bugs. Preservative-free so should not cause a skin reaction.
TRAVEL SICKNESS -Feeling travel sick, look ahead get fresh air, nausea tablets are also helpful.
